Tropical Fish Index - Pakistan Loaches

Pakistan (Yo-Yo) Loaches - Botia almorhae

Origin: India and Bangladesh
Maximum Size: Usually around 3", but can get larger.
Care: Planted tank, preferably with sand substrate, the temperature should be between 24-28oC (75-82oF) they do best in fairly soft, slightly acidic (pH 6-7)
Feeding: Omnivorous, will take most aquarium foods
Breeding: No detailed accounts and doubted to have occured in captivity.
Sexing: Unknown.
Comments: This fish is usually sold for its good ability to reduce snail poulations in any community tank, because like many loaches, it will include snails in its diet. The markings on these fish can be quite variable. They are best kept as a group and can be kept with other peaceful loach species.
